11u took a trip to Benbrook last Sunday 9/27. After going 2-0 in pool play and outscoring their opponents 2-1, they headed into bracket play vs Brock Iron Eagles. The Iron Eagles didn't want their day to end and showed it on the field. Cavalry Baseball after being tied at 5 stole the lead late and defeated Brock Iron Eagles 6-5. Only allowing 5 hits, striking out 2 and no free passes, Kalen Walker was credited with the win.
Going into the championship game against a tough Texas Faith team, Coach Pat and the boys knew it could be a close game. Going into the 5th inning, Cavalry was down 4 to 5. Only allowing 1 run in the top of the 5th, they knew it was all or nothing riding into their home at bat. Bodie Shipman walked and was able to get into scoring position by stealing both 2nd and 3rd base. Max Bazan was up next and was walked by the pitcher. A perfectly laid bunt by Kaden Hart turned into a fielders choice allowing Bodie Shipman to score and Max to advance to 2nd. Next up was Kayden S. He singled on a ground ball to first. Max rounded third but was called out at a play at home. Both Kaden H. & Kayden S. advanced bases on the throw to home. This put Wyatt Manley into the position of a lifetime. 2 outs down by 1 run. He saw the first pitch and took it for a ride. Kaden H came in safely at home and Kayden S. put his wheels on to walk it off in the bottom of the inning. Gage Bassett was the winning pitcher and only allowed 2 hits, striking out 1 and walking 1 in his final inning of work. Starting pitcher Evan Williams pitched a great game surrendering 5 runs, striking out 3 and only walking 1 in his 4 innings of work.
The boys are putting in more work over the next few weeks and look forward to their next tournament on the 10th & 11th. Stay tuned to our score center at the top of our home page to see when and where they play next!
